School Counseling Program
A comprehensive school counseling program is an integral component of the school’s academic mission. Comprehensive school counseling programs, driven by student data and based on standards in academic, career and social/emotional development, promote and enhance the learning process for all students.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TEAM (BHT)
The Behavioral Health Team works to determine and provide appropriate tiered intervention that supports students’ behavioral, social and emotional needs. The goal of the BHT is to guide teachers through the behavioral problem solving process to positively impact our students’ lives and academic success.
BHT members consist of: school counselor, case manager, school psychologist, & social worker.

Tier 1 Supports
Social emotional curriculum is an integral part of the school counseling program at Budlong. Classroom lessons and team building activities focus on topics dealing with personal/social, career, and academic matters.
Both support the school-wide character education goals and encourage positive core values and traits including, but not limited to, fairness, responsibility, citizenship, trustworthiness, caring, and respectfulness.

Tier 2 Supports
Lunch groups are small groups of children (typically 4-5) usually from the same grade level. These children are chosen to be part of a group depending on the topic. Students may sign up for a specific group, teachers or parents may refer, or students could be chosen by the counselor. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following: self-esteem, changing families, study skills, bullying, social skills, friendship, anger management

Tier 3 Supports
Individual counseling with students is based upon teacher, parent, or self-referrals. Typically the counseling services are short term, using a solution-focused brief counseling approach. Counseling sessions are provided for social and emotional development, academic and attendance concerns, and high school and post-secondary guidance.
Students with long term counseling needs are referred to a partnered outside counseling agency, per parents/legal guardians approval.

Pop Up Pantry
Beginning this Sunday, April 19th at 3pm Saint Mary's Church will operate a temporary Pop-up Pantry for ANY Family in need during the pandemic.
If you live in the City of Chicago and you are in need of food during this difficult time please send 1 family member to our Church this Sunday (capable of carrying a 30 pound box).
We are located at 4220 N. Sheridan Road, Chicago, IL.
This Pop-up Pantry will be open every Sunday at 3pm until the pandemic ends.

A partir de este domingo 19 de abril a las 3 p.m., la Iglesia de Santa María del Lago abrirá una despensa temporal para CUALQUIER familia necesitada durante la pandemia, en especial para nuestras familias migrantes.
Si usted vive en la ciudad de Chicago y necesita alimentos durante este momento difícil, envíe a 1 miembro de su familia a nuestra Iglesia este domingo.
